

Ed lost his long battle with multiple health issues on Monday morning March 14th. He is at last free from pain. Ed was born October 6, 1937, in Corona, Ca. He was preceded in death by his parents Doyle and Ruth Haney and step-mother Doris. Also leaving all too soon was Ed's Grandson Corbin Jones. Ed moved to Bakersfield at a young age. He attended Beardsley Grammar school. He loved to tell the story of Merle Haggard being in his 3rd-grade class. The two boys once got into a fight and to quote Ed, "He whipped my butt." Ed attended BHS Class of 55'. He then spent two years in the Marines stationed in San Diego. The next 30 years were spent with the Santa Fe Railroad where be became an Engineer making trips from Bakersfield to Barstow. He retired in 1989 for health reasons. Ed loved to play golf. He enjoyed his trips to Hawaii and was an avid reader. Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Clara. Between them, they had four children whereby Ed is survived by daughters Shelly Haney, Tracy McDaniel and husband Jay, and Jana DeLeasa and one very special son, Kevin Haley. He is also leaving behind six Grandchildren, Crissy, Hunter, Mallory, Morgan and husband Jonathan, Madison and Mikeala plus two Great-Grandchildren. Ed is also survived by a brother, David Haney. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at Hillcrest Memorial Park 9101 Kern Canyon Rd Bakersfield from 4:00-8:00 PM. Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10A1V1 with graveside service to follow. Casual attire. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr Laughlin and his staff. Ed was our Kenny Rogers with his beautiful white hair. His memory will be with us always.
