Eira was born April 6, 1926 to William and Deborah Williams in Brecon, Wales, UK and she died at home in Rochester, NY on August 25, 2017. She moved to California in 1947, first living in the Los Angeles area and then moving to Bakersfield, her residence for the next 60+ years. There, she met the love of her life, her husband John. Eira was raised on a family farm in Wales. During WWII, she took advanced training at Cambridge and worked as a chemist in a munitions factory in England. She raised her family in Bakersfield and sang in the choir at St. Luke's Episcopal church as well as with a number of other organizations. Eira was a kind, gentle, proper, silly, happy, funny, determined lady who loved to cook and host dinners for family and friends.
Eira is predeceased by her husband Frederick John Goodner; her daughter Ruth Eileen Goodner, and her grandson Nathaniel James Levi. She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Bill) Miller, Megan (Joe) Skorupa; grandchildren, Aaron (Wendy) Green, Aleisha (Joe) Taranto, Stephanie (Sam) Frame, and Katherine Levi; 5 great-grandchildren; daughter-by-choice Lori Williams (and her daughter Olivia); and many nieces, nephews and dear friends, both here in America, and in Wales.
