Elizabeth Jane McJannet was born February 17, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jean and George McJannet, and peacefully passed away at home on August 23, 2022, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family and close friends. Her parents were transferred to Casper, Wyoming, and ultimately to Bakersfield, where she spent her formative years. She called Bakersfield home. Beth attended Eissler Elementary, Chipman Jr. High, and Highland High School; after high school, she went to Bakersfield College, followed by California State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, following in the footsteps of her mother and sister. Beth started her nursing career in the ER at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. When Kaiser Permanente entered the Kern County area, Beth went to work there as an advice nurse, and later, worked in many specialty departments. Feeling the desire to expand and further her education, Beth enrolled in a joint Family Nurse Practitioner/Master of Science in Nursing Program. She graduated from this program operated by UC Davis Medical School and Sacramento State University in 2002 with her FNP license and MSN. Beth continued to work for Kaiser Permanente in this new capacity, initially at the Stockdale Facility, in the Urgent Care. There, she was recruited by, and then transferred to, the Orthopedics Department, where she worked until her passing. Beth was an excellent practitioner; she loved her profession, her coworkers, and her patients. Her dedication to providing quality, compassionate care to her patients was on display every day.
Beth held many interests outside of her professional life. She enjoyed sports, both as a participant and as a spectator. She swam competitively, played basketball, volleyball, and softball during her school years, and in her adult years; she was also an excellent golfer. Beth was a fan of the Miami Dolphins fan, Lakers, Dodgers, and she also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Other activities she enjoyed included gardening, cooking and travel. One of her most memorable trips was an Alaskan cruise she took with many of her friends and her parents. Beth always loved animals and she had many pets throughout her life. Some of her pets were rescues; it troubled her to see abuse and neglect. She leaves behind her dog Sierra, and cat Sammy.
Beth was loved and admired by her many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bruce, who died in infancy. Survivors include her friend Bambi Lopez; her sister Lynne Myers (Joseph) of Bakersfield; her brothers Robert McJannet of Phoenix, AZ, and Jim McJannet (Peggy) of Bakersfield; her nephews and niece Mark Myers of Orange County, William Myers of Dallas, TX, Jacob McJannet of Bakersfield, and Kelsey McJannet of Bakersfield; her great nephew Nixon Myers of Orange County, and numerous other family and friends.
