Ernie was born in Council Hill, Oklahoma to Ernest Warren Shaw, Sr. and Deloris (Moore) Shaw. Soon after his brother Charles was born, the family left Oklahoma for Tulare, California, where they lived until 1954 when they moved to Bakersfield.
Ernie attended East Bakersfield High School where he met Mary Clark. They married in 1958 and had three children.
Ernie worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years, but his joys in life were riding (and fixing) motorcycles and playing Country Music. He was as comfortable holding the handlebars of a motorcycle as he was holding a guitar.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Shaw, and his sister-in-law, Jean Shaw; his children, Terrie England, Ricky Shaw, and Bruce Shaw; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Shaw; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Ernest Shaw, Sr. and Deloris Shaw, and his wife, Mary Shaw.
The funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery on June 27, 2022 at 10 am, followed by a gathering of family and friends at the east-end of City in the Hills Park.
