

Born on September 20, 1959, in Brownsville Texas, Ernesto was a bright and curious spirit from the very beginning. After graduating from Arvin High School, he went on to attend the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in engineering. His dedication and intellect led him to a long and distinguishing career with the United States Navy, where he served for an impressive 39 and a half years. Ernest rose through the ranks to become the Explosives Safety Director, a role that reflected his deep commitment to service and precision.
Ernesto was a man of many passions. He was a traveler at heart and found joy exploring the world – from the beaches of Hawaii and Mexico to the historic streets of Paris, and from the monuments of Washington, D.C. to the neighborhood of San Francisco and beyond. He especially loved discovering new places in his home of Huntington Beach, often visiting local bookstores and trying new restaurants. In his youth, Ernesto enjoyed camping and the great outdoors.
Throughout his life, he remained a devoted learner, an avid reader, and a lover of music and art. His sense of humor, intelligence, and gentle kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Ernesto was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Maria.
He is survived by his father Ernesto; his sisters, Leticia Castillo, Olga Sessions and her husband, Jerry; his nephews, Brandon Sessions, Daniel Sessions and his wife Melissa; his niece, Ashley Sessions; great niece, Alexis Sessions; and great nephew, Richard Ernesto Lee Sessions. He also leaves behind many other family members and friends.
He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments and adventurous spirit but also for the warmth he brought into every room and every relationship.
A visitation for Ernesto will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral service will occur Monday, July 7, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Monday, July 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
