Frieda died at Brookdale Riverwalk Senior Living Community quietly in her sleep in the early morning hours of June 2, 2021. Frieda was born in Long Beach, California but spent the majority of her life in Delano, California and Bakersfield. She was the only child of Fred and Leona Burger. She graduated from Bakersfield High School and soon after she married the love of her life, William (Bill) E. Lewis and began her most important and rewarding career as a wife and mother. Frieda and Bill spent nearly 60 happy years together.
Frieda was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Delano and was actively involved in the Methodors Group. She also attended Saint John's Lutheran Church in Bakersfield where she thoroughly enjoyed the Wednesday morning women's Bible study group. Frieda worked most of her adult life as a medical clerk. She was always involved in her children and grandchildren's activities. She also enjoyed playing bridge, reading, RVing and visiting with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2007, and her oldest son, Larry Lewis in 2019.
Her surviving family includes Byron Lewis and wife Kam, Steward Lewis and wife Monica, Joy Long and husband Wayne, and daughter-in-law Rose Lewis. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The Lewis/Long family is grateful to their friends and family for their love and support and wish to extend a heart full thank you to Brookdale Riverwalk and Bristol Hospice nurses and caregivers for their wonderful care given to Frieda.
Dear Mom, also known as Grandma and Grandmama, may you rest in peace and we will see you again someday. We love you.
