She was born May 16, 1929 to Henry and Emma Warkentin in Reedley, California. Gladys graduated from Kern Union High School and shortly after that met the love of her life, Gordon McCain, who had just come back from WWII. They married on February 16, 1947. Gladys and Gordon had two children, Sharon and Jim. After raising her children she worked as a teller at Bank of America for many years. Gladys loved fishing with her captain of the "Happy Bottom" and spent over 40 years fishing the ocean waters off of Eureka, CA. After they moved from Bakersfield to Wofford Heights, she so enjoyed watching the moonlight shining on the lake waters right outside her window.
She is survived by her cousins Steve (Dorothy) Heinrichs and Joyce (Vernie) Parrott, her daughter Sharon (Rick) Davis, her son Jim (Joy) McCain, granddaughters Dawn (Ken) Collins, Jennifer McCain, Carrie (Ralph) Navarro, Joanne (Frank) Amestoy, Jamie McCain, Nicole Bazan and ten great-grandchildren.
Gladys was a devoted Christian and spent her life looking forward to the day she would be with Jesus. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Valley Baptist Greater Vision or to the Shriners.
