

Gladys Eileen Minear Williams age 103, passed away peacefully in her sleep April 21, 2015 at Rosewood Senior Living Community, Bakersfield, California of age related causes. She was born December 17, 1911 in Medford, Oregon to Merle and Jessie Darby Minear. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1994 and Sisters Ruth Alborn, Glenna Thompson and Brother Robert Minear, Granddaughter Sherry Jones and is survived by younger Brother Donald Minear of Medford, Oregon.
After Graduating from Medford high School Gladys studied pharmacy at Oregon State. She met Carl Williams and was married in Medford, Oregon March 17, 1935. Gladys and Carl moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they lived until 1952 when they moved to Bakersfield were Carl was a potato broker.
Gladys led an active productive life. Gladys was always busy with a project: designing her own furniture, painting, designing and making special Christmas gifts for her family and grandchildren; playing bridge and golf. Gladys did much of the bookkeeping for Carl when he was doing his brokerage for potatoes. Gladys' charm and enthusiasm followed her in all of her ventures. She was able to travel all over the world and the United States with Carl and her friends. She and Carl had a trailer and boat which took them camping and hiking at lakes and mountains. Gladys remained living by herself in the house that she and Carl built in 1952 until she was 102 years old. She then moved to Rosewood Senior Living Center taking advantage of the many activities made available. This last summer Gladys was delighted to be Queen for the day at Rosewood.
Gladys is survived by her sons and wives Gary Williams (Kathy), Roger Williams (Joyce), Jim Williams (Corliss) and her daughter and husband Pam Jackson (Bob). Grandchildren: Karen Rogers, Paul Williams, Scot Williams, Lisa Newton, Tim Williams, 9 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
For the care given to Gladys the family wishes to thank Optimal Hospice, and Rosewood. Celebration of life will be held at Hillcrest memorial Park and Mortuary at 10AM May 23, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Optimal Hospice or to charities of your choice.
