Jack Darwin Isbell was born in Modesto, CA on March 13, 1940 and went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret; son Ronald Lee; parents Theodore and Effie Isbell; and brother Don Isbell. Jack was blessed with 46 years of marriage to Margaret. He is survived by his son Kirk and wife Marie and one grandson, Eric, of Bakersfield, CA; his sister Patricia Markwardt and husband Jack; niece Corissa Canny and husband James; nephew Gareth Markwardt and wife Amanda; great niece Ethne and great nephews Owen and Reece, all of Tucson, AZ. Jack attended school at North High School and Bakersfield High School. After high school he worked at Chevron Gas Stations and then drove a gasoline delivery truck for Standard Oil until he was injured in an accident at work. Jack was blessed with many talents: painting, gardening, and woodworking, He also enjoyed boating and fishing. He attended Sunshine Full Gospel Church for many years and volunteered many hours as an administrator, as well as being responsible for the sound and lighting system. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Brij Bhambi of Central Cardiology and his assistants Gloria and Regina for their concern and care. They would also like to recognize the nurses and patient care partners at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. They were outstanding in their efforts to make him as comfortable and pain free as possible during his hospital days. Although his association with Hoffmann Hospice was very short, we would especially like to thank Dandi and Diana; everyone who was involved in his care and comfort went far beyond expectations in the level of concern for Jack and for the support they provided to the family. Visitation for Jack will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary on October 24 from 5-9 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park on October 25 at 11 a.m. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5.
