Mr. Bratcher was born August 30, 1926 in Tahoka, Texas and passed away peacefully on January 5, 2019 in Bakersfield, California. He was fondly known as "J.D." by his family. In 1939 he and his family left the Texas, as a result of the "Dust Bowl", and came to Bakersfield, California. He attended East High School. In 1944 he entered Military Service and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. During his time in service he served as a Military Policeman and was very proud to serve his country. In 1946 he married the love-of-his-life, Dorothy Jean Robinette, together they raised four children; David, Richard, Steve, and Nancy. On April 1, 1951 he purchased a radiator business know as Automotive Radiator Service, a business that remains successful even today. Mr. Bratcher was a hard working man and a very astute business person. His ability to read and understand the stock market, assist others whose business were on a downward slope, and his financial marksmanship afforded him the ability to provide well for his family and others. He helped many people get back on their feet and remained silent with his generosity. Jim had no time for arrogance and remained humble throughout his long and productive life.

Mr. Bratcher loved his family and really enjoyed combing the California Landscape in his Jeep and Motorhome. He and his family were members of the Trail Blazer Jeep Club of Bakersfield. Jim loved to explore and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He participated in the community through his membership in the Fraternal Order of Elks and the American Legion. For a short time he owned a Jewelry Business which turned into an enjoyable hobby.

Mr. Bratcher was proceeded in death by his wife Dorothy (2005) and his son Richard (1990). He is survived by his sons David (Voni) Bratcher, Steve (Linda) Bratcher and his daughter Nancy (Kim) Stafford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Cherise, Kristi, Kevin, Lauren, and Madison, and five great-grandchildren.

Jim was the Patriarch of his family and remained steadfast in the care and welfare of each member. He could be counted on to remedy any problem and bring a strong and loving hand to the table. He will be sorely missed and remembered simply and reverently as: Dad. We love you, Your Family.
