

Jim Dobson, 63, died on Monday, April 3, 2017, when he succumbed to melanoma and the complications from receiving cancer treatment. He passed away in his bed peacefully with his family surrounding him and went home to be with our Lord and Savior. He is whole again and rejoicing in Heaven with his Mom and Dad.
Jim was born July 9, 1953, in Bakersfield, California and was a lifetime area resident. He was self-employed most of his life. From running his father's Shell service station in Lamont to owning his own service station, and then his own smog shop in Bakersfield. Most recently he owned and operated his own transfer truck business, Dobson Trucking alongside his wife, Janice, and son, Jonathan. He contracted for several construction companies in Bakersfield and was very well liked in the trucking community.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Dobson; brother Randy Dobson (wife Debi); four children, Melissa Halstead, Mendy Hill, Jonathan Dobson (wife Jeannette), and Megan Dobson; and five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Sabrina, Gavin, Emily, and Sidney. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Jean and Rowdy (William) Dobson.
Jim will be memorialized and buried at 10:00 am on Monday, April 10, 2017, at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 4-8pm.
