

James (Jim) Easling, 82, passed away on May 30, 2015, in Bakersfield, California, after a short illness. He was born on June 28, 1932 in Pensacola, Oklahoma, to Leonard Henry Easling and Minnie Esther Jameson. In 1944 his family left Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl and moved to California. When he was 16, he joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1952.
He worked in the paint business for 40 years and started his own business, Easling's Paint and Wallpaper. He served as a volunteer officer for the
Bakersfield Police Department for 15 years. He enjoyed flying and earned his pilot's license. After retiring, Jim became a licensed realtor.
What people will remember most about Jim is his sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and made friends easily. It didn't take long for a complete stranger to feel like he was Jim's best friend. Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father and his identical twin brother John Paul Easling, brothers Herschel Easling and Carl Easling, and his son Terry Wayne Easling.
Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Jimmie Lou Easling; daughters Cheryl Lynn Misener and Karen Sue Easling; step-daughters Gay Martin, Lynn Guerra, Venda Meadows and Sylvia Hendrickson; sister Lee Ellen Gilstrap; his grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, June 3rd, from 4-8 p.m.at Hillcrest Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4th at 1p.m. at the Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel.
