James Holladay, jr. was born in Bakersfield California. He attended BHS, Bakersfield College and graduated from CSU Fresno with degrees in Industrial and Civil Engineering before working many years for the City of Bakersfield.
A lifelong learner, Jimmy enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, sailing, and flying planes. He also possessed a very creative spirit and was always busy with metal working, welding, and various projects, including building his own plane. He baked bread, played the piano, and enjoyed throwing elaborate Halloween parties for his friends and family. He was a great dance partner.
Jim was also known for his witty, dry sense of humor and his kind heart. He found meaning in helping others and had tremendous compassion for animals, saving countless stray dogs and cats throughout his life. He was truly an exceptional human being and a gentle soul.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by his friends and family. He leaves behind his wife, Marina, her daughter, Elizaveta (John), his mother, Joan Peacock Holladay, brother Frank, sister, Ellen (Peter) and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, James V. Holladay, and his grandmother, Juanita Peacock.
He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park
