James Wellington Starr, Jr.
Sunrise: January 1, 1971, Bakersfield, California
Sunset: January 30, 2021, Los Angeles, California
James Wellington Starr Jr., was born on January 1, 1971 to Mrs. Devonia Starr and Mr. James Wellington Starr, Sr., (whom he proceeded in death) in Bakersfield, California.
He resided in Los Angeles, California where he attended Baldwin Hills Elementary, and Susan Miller Dorsey High School where he fell in love with basketball in which he played and graduated from to go onto complete one semester at LA City College. He left it all behind to move back to Bakersfield, to be re-acquainted with old friends and fall in in love with Lisa, to whom later became his wife after sharing three sons, a daughter, and two stepsons together. They both raised their children together and remained married for nine years and seven months - just shy from ten years - until his health failed and God called him home.
James had a big kind soul and too many family and friends to name. He loved to fish, cook, garden and fix things on his own. He was a helper, giver, the most kind and honest giving man and his smile lifted your spirit.
James leaves behind his cherished wife Lisa Thompson (Starr), three sons: Ja'Brae Starr, Jarelle Starr, Ja'Vaughn Starr; daughter, Jalisa Starr; two stepsons, Isaac West-Taylor Jr., and Isaiah West-Taylor, James Starr III, and Trayvon Starr, and daughter Takeila Starr.
He also leaves mother Devonia Wilson (Cecil Wilson); Sister Wendy Davis (Keith Davis); grandchildren Ja'lene Starr, Ja'maree Starr, and Kayden Taylor. Nieces' Irene Davis, Angela Davis, Jasmine Davis and niece (more like a daughter) Ronnique Mackey; a host of nieces, nephews, Aunties, Uncles, In-laws, Cousins and friends. To Whom He will Truly Be Missed!
A visitation for James will be held Friday, February 19, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A Celebration of Life service will occur Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM; with graveside services to follow.
