She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Robert, her parents Kenneth and Frances Hunter, and her sister Barbara. Janet has one surviving brother Kenneth. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Janet worked for Pacific Bell in the 1950s and was involved in Y's Menettes (a service club supporting the YMCA). She had loved to draw since childhood, and was quite talented. She taught her children to read, write, and count before they started kindergarten. When her children were teenagers, they had Bakersfield Californian newspaper routes, and she helped them 'get the paper out'. She loved to read adventure books such as Tarzan, superhero comic books, and later Louis L'Amour westerns like her father.
Janet worshipped at Valley Baptist, often attending Bible study. She was also an avid mallwalker surpassing many milestones over time, sporting her orange Reebok tennis shoes and an orange t-shirt. She loved gardening in her backyard which has the best soil in Bakersfield. In later years, she also loved using her Mac computer to screen capture comic strips from online and email them out to family and friends.
