Jeff loved his family deeply and will be remembered for his kindness, resilience, and the love he gave so freely. Though he lived in many places throughout his life, Duchesne, Utah was the home he held closest to his heart.
Jeff’s Grandma Wilson was the apple of his eye. She taught him how to fish, and he cherished every moment they spent together.
Jeff proudly passed that love of fishing on to his grandson, Carson, who especially enjoyed fishing alongside him.
In high school, Jeff was an outstanding wrestler. He began working in the oil industry at just 18 years old, and his career took him across the world and throughout the United States, including Kuwait, California, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, and many other places. Jeff’s work ethic was impeccable, and the rig hands who worked with him respected and loved him.
Jeff was known for his playful teasing and quick humor. One of his favorite jokes was asking people if they wanted to trade what was in their pocket for what was in his, usually right after payday, though no one ever dared take the bait. He also loved telling his nieces and nephews that he was the “younger brother,” and they believed him. After all, he was younger than his older brother, so technically, he wasn’t wrong.
Jeff adored spending time with his nieces and nephews and was a big kid at heart who never wanted to grow up. He shared a special bond with his grandson Carson, along with all the children in his life. Jeff also made it a tradition to call his mother every Wednesday, lovingly referring to it as his “Mother’s Day.”
To know Jeff was to love him. He would do anything for anyone, whether or not he had the means, simply because that was who he was.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his sons, Shawn (Natalia), David (Karen), and Seth; and his daughter, Michelle. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Don (Lisa), Jim (Shelli), and Chuck; his mother, Lori Harper; and his sisters, Tammy (Chuck), Brenda (Jeff), and Sam (Wes). He leaves behind several grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph “Lucky” Dorrity; his stepfather, Jerry Harper; his brothers, John, Gwen, and Dennis; and his sister, June.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park Pavillion, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. All who knew and loved Jeff are welcome to attend.
