Jerry E. Kitchen March 12, 1940 - December 26, 2011 Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 30th, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary for Jerry E. Kitchen who went to eternal sleep on December 26, 2011. Jerry was born on March 12, 1940 as the only child to J.W. and Ethel Kitchen in Puxico, Missouri. He was preceded in death by both his parents. He leaves behind, but not forgotten...a wife he loved so dearly, Phyllis of 50 years; daughter Judy Mott; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Allison Kitchen and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. At the age of 17, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country for 6 years. Upon completing his Military duties he helped his father manage the family's service station and later opened his own station in Northern California. In 1969 Jerry moved his family to Bakersfield where he continued working in the service station industry. In 1973, Jerry started his career in the oilfields working for Brooks Oilfield Service where he was a dedicated employee and retired in 2000 after 27 years of service. Jerry loved the outdoors...he had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping and shooting skeet. The most important day of the year was September 1st (If you're a hunter, no explanation is needed). Jerry was a dedicated father who supported his children's sporting activities whether it was on the Softball field with Judy or transporting Michael and his friends to the next BMX National. BBQ's and birthday celebrations with the grandkids and friends were always a special time in his life. He loved his food and good company! Grandpa you will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts.
