A beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Sister and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30th 2026 at the age of 84.
Jo Ann was born in Paul’s Valley Oklahoma on November 19,1941. She was the cherished daughter of Vernon and Opal Jones. Her life was a testament to love, resilience and kindness. She was the beloved wife to Leon Cox until his passing in 1972. She was a devoted sister to all her siblings including her late brother Vernon Ray Jones and sisters Debbie Oliver and Brenda Cox.
JoAnn’s spirit and determination were evident at a very young age, carrying her through life’s many challenges and joys. A woman of immense love and dedication. JoAnn’s family was her greatest treasure. She is survived by her Daughter Leona Forker (Bob) and Son’s Danny Cox (Suzanne), Chad and Brad Fuqua. Her legacy of love carries on through her Grandchildren Bobby, Cody, Adam, and Alan Forker, Berkley and Dannaka Cox, and Kinnley Fuqua, as well as her Great Grandchildren, Addyson, Timothy, and Noah Forker, and Ripley Cox. JoAnn also leaves behind her dear sisters Joy Mills, Alice Thomas, Cathy Eldridge, and Rita Hovious, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Jo Ann was predeceased by her parents, Vernon Jones and Opal Oliver, who undoubtedly welcomed her into eternal peace with open arms. Her life was one of service and compassion, reaching beyond her immediate family. Known for her kindness and generosity.

A Committal Service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, US, on October 14, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am.
