Joyce passed away on December 27, 2022

Joyce was born to John and Angelina Rivera in Bakersfield, CA. Joyce will be reunited in heaven with her parents, her sister Jane, her grandson Aaron Faz, and her son Mariano Castillo.

Joyce was graduate of East Bakersfield High School and worked at Bank of America for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all she knew. She would share unconditional love to many and was known for her generous smile and laughter. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they gave her sense of fulfillment in life. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren in all they accomplished. She enjoyed looking through recipes for the holidays, making tamales, having her famous annual Christmas parties with friends and family, camping, embroidery, quilting, sending small donations to different charities, and giving out handwritten prayer cards. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Druids and the Eagles along with her sister Jane. The Woolgrowers and the Moose Lodge in Pismo were other favorite spots. She also enjoyed her travels to Alaska, Canada, the Panama Canal, Hawaii, Wyoming, Jerusalem, London, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Washington D.C., and Paris. Most of all she loved being at the beach with her family and Cayucos Beach was her favorite.

Joyce is survived by her brothers, John and Robert Rivera; her children Denise Faz, Robert Faz and spouse Victoria Faz, Lisa Delgado and spouse Jose Delgado, Tina Pola, Ricardo Castillo and spouse Silvia Castillo; her grandchildren, MJ Martinez and fiancé Jacqui Novak, Mia and spouse Chaz Harker, Sabrina Faz and fiancé Jonathan Sumlin, Ashley Faz and partner Hector Valdez, Robbie Faz, Domenique Rivera, Erica Delgado, Christian and Lynnette Pola, Ryker, Ayden, Noah and Jade Castillo; her great grandchildren Ethan Rivera-Vargas, Lylianah Faz, Olivia and Amelia Sumlin, and Alejandro Valdez.

We have all had our special times with mom over the years and she will be greatly missed. Ricardo Castillo and his family were fortunate to have spent these last few years with mom in their home and we are blessed that she was always taken care of by her family.

A viewing will be Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. and Funeral services will be Friday, January 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. both at Hillcrest Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA.

Joyce Evelyn Salaberri, age 81, of Bakersfield, California passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

A visitation for Joyce will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral services will occur Friday, January 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary.
