Karl Scott Woods, known by his loved ones as Scott, was born May 4th 1967 at Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. As a young child, he grew up on the banks of the Kern River, exploring and enjoying carefree days out in the sunshine. He also loved riding motorcycles, playing sports, and hanging out with his neighborhood friends. He attended school in Bakersfield and graduated from North High School.
On the 4th of July 1985, Scott met the love of his life, Brenda. Soon after they were inseparable and were married on June 18, 1988. Scott began working in gardening to support his new family. He worked hard and took pride in his work. He also put himself through college and graduated from California State University of Bakersfield with his Bachelor’s degree of science in Geology. He continued to work in gardening, also taking up landscaping, rock work and construction. He liked to work with his hands.
He had many accomplishments in his life. He opened a motorcycle racing track with his friends, called the Central California Speedway in Santa Maria, CA. He loved speedway bikes and won many races. He also was self employed and had several businesses in gardening and landscaping. He also was an ingenious inventor, always coming up with new exciting ideas. He even owned his own patent on his shovel.
He became a proud father to two beautiful daughters, Kristen and Erika. They were his greatest passion and joy in life. Nothing made him happier than to spend time with his three girls. He was always a phone call away, at any time. He shared his passion with science, learning, sports, especially the Dodgers and Nascar with his girls. He made sure they knew all about good music and good movies, always coming up with new things to share with them. He raised his daughters to be strong, independent, educated women and nothing made him more proud.
He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He had the biggest heart for everyone he met, from all walks of life. He always had a kind word and a joke ready to tell anyone who would listen. He lived his life with honesty, integrity and had no regrets. We will never stop thinking about him and remembering him in the good times. We will always carry his memory with us, and will be reunited one day together again. We love you Scott, Dad. You are the best.
Scott passed away December 14, 2018 surrounded by the love of his family. A celebration of his life will take place on December 22nd at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Graveside services only.
