He was born January 31, 1940 in Winterset, lowa to Frances Spence and John Duff, and was raised by his stepfather Slim Beem.
He served in the US Air Force from 1957-1961, and was stationed at Williams Air Force base as a weapons and airplane mechanic, where he met his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Deatherage. After his time in the service they moved to Ventura, California where Ken and his brother-in-law, Jay, became business partners and ran D&D Carrot Harvesting for over 40 years.
Ken and Carolyn settled in Bakersfield, California where they raised their four daughters.
Ken had a heart of gold and would do anything for you. He was always happy to spend his time with his large family of daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. His door was always open, 49ers would be on the TV, and pizza on the way. If football wasn't on, you'd find him out back in his shop with some new project he was working on or tending to his goats. He had an amazing life full of family and friends that he met through farming, hunting, golf, car club, and rock club. In 2016, Ken married Judy Gallagher. Together they enjoyed Taco Tuesdays and watching Dodger games.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Frances Spence, John Duff, Slim Beem, and his wife Carolyn Duff.
Surviving loved ones: Daughters Karen Duff, Sharon Duff, Cheryl (Scott) Calley, and Barbara (Frank) Castiglione. Grandchildren John Duff, Corey Raines, Kenny Jordan Muñoz, Allison, Justin, and Taylor Calley, Matthew and Sara Castiglione.
