Ken passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on July 1, 2026. He was born on October 15, 1943, in San Diego, California to Luke and Edwina McCoy. The family soon moved to Bakersfield where he would graduate from East High School and Bakersfield College where his love for art and drawing would earn him his degree and he would pursue his career as an architectural draftsman.
He retired from his self-employed business, Kern Land Design, in 2024. Ken had many hobbies and interests including Kern County Boat and Ski Club, Kern Singles Ski Club, and in his younger years working on classic cars. NASCAR, Seattle Seahawks, homemade vanilla ice cream a ‘Real McCoy’ tradition, and Lola (his cat) were a few of the many things he enjoyed!
Ken had a personality that everyone was drawn to and his kind smile that is memorable to all that knew him. He was a man of integrity, generosity and faith. He was baptized at Valley Baptist Church. Because of his faith we know we will see him again in Heaven.
He was preceded by his father Luke and mother Edwina. His sister Debbie Taylor (Fred), daughters Jody McCoy Myers, Jayme McCoy, and Mandana Byran (Justin). Grandchildren Mitchell Myers (Jessica), Paisley Myers Kotenski (Jereme), Hannah DeFrancisco Barron (Paul), Ellie McCoy, Gabriella Bryan, and Jeremiah Bryan.
