Lela was an amazing woman of God that leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, understanding and grace. Lela was born in Bakersfield, California and graduated from Wasco High School in 1959. She married Jessie Charles Tiger on June 3,1962 and in the years to follow she was a loving wife, tireless mother, and the world's most amazing grandma. She filled her days with hard work, because it was necessary, and time with family because it is what brought her the most joy. Not a day went by that Lela was not involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was the grandma that never missed a soccer game, dance recital, school play, musical performance, birthday, anniversary, or any event that was important to someone she loved, Lela and her wonderful husband were always an integral part of holding our family together. On December 23, 2011 Lela was told she had a brain tumor and the wild ride of brain cancer began. Within two weeks the tumor had grown exponentially and the changes in my beautiful mother dramatically increased. Lela, a woman of quiet grace, now became the incessant talker who was bound and determined to hug everyone she met. She boldly began to share her faith and her steadfast belief that God was in control. On January 23, 2012 she was given three weeks to live. She fought valiantly and remained optimistic as the chemo and radiation assaulted her body. Lela took a turn for the worse last Sunday morning. The headache became unbearable and her left side ceased to function. She was taken to San Joaquin hospital where her last touch with humanity had her winning the heart of her ambulance attendant. As her family massaged her head and comforted her, she slipped into a final sleep. Mom had shared she was looking forward to spending time with her handsome Son. Anthony Jay Tiger preceded her in death in the year 1988. Lela leaves behind her loving husband Jessie C. Tiger ; daughters Tammy Myers and Kristi Tiger ; Grandchildren Ian Myers, Keith Myers, Kari Tiger, Victoria Tiger and Joshua McGowan; and a multitude of cherished friends. Chapel service will be held on Saturday, February 18th, at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. She will be missed.
