She passed on August 13th, 2026, in Bakersfield, California, at the age of 84, quietly with her family and friends by her side.
She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1960. She met her husband, James McGahey, and they married in 1962. They were married for 64 years at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her husband James McGahey, son Stan McGahey and his husband Bruce Hay, Sister Eva Adams and her husband Larry Adams, sister-in-law Jeanette Blackwood, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Linda and Wayne Swanson, special friend Lisa Rodriguez, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother C.W. Blackwood, and brother Wayne Blackwood.
She loved to cook, decorated cakes for over 20 years, and played canasta with a group of friends for over 40 years. She volunteered at the Discovery Shop in Bakersfield for many years. She was a member of the Frosting Bells Cake Decorator’s Club in Bakersfield for many years, and she loved to play bingo as well.
