Lorri Ann (Scarbrough) Michael

She was born October 22, 1965 in Bakersfield, CA to parents Lawrence Paul Scarbrough and Virginia Ann Scarbrough. She was preceded in death by her brother Steven Paul Scarbrough. She is survived by her husband David Michael, her children Lauren Kapadia-Michael (Diana), Olivia Michael (Eliseo), Delaney Borradori (Dante), Sophia Michael (Cameron), Audrie Michael, and Foster son Dylan Trager, 4 Grandchildren and another arriving October 2025, parents Lawrence and Virginia Scarbrough, sister Nancy Smith (Bill), Sister-in-law Carolyn Spencer (Dan), brother-in-law Wesley Michael, brother-in-law Howard Michael (Dana).

Lorri attended grade school in Arvin and graduated from Arvin High School in 1983. She received an associate’s degree and worked in the Financial Aid Office at Bakersfield College before accepting a job with the Kern High School District. She retired after 35 years with the HS district.

She was passionate about people, especially little people. She had a heart for foster children, following an encounter with a classmate in 2nd grade that she later learned was a foster child. She made it her life’s passion to become a foster parent and make a difference in as many children’s lives as possible. She was equally blessed by her encounters with the students that She and David encountered while working for the KHSD. They still have contact with many of those students years after graduating.

Lorri never met a stranger and could quickly make a friend in any encounter. Her warm personality, her bigger than life smile and welcoming heart will surely be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.

Lorri’s life passion was established while in grade school. It was caring for the children in the foster care system. She and David are long time advocates for foster care and opened their home to countless children during their marriage. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation to a memorial fund to assist foster children of Kern County, via Miriam Jamison Children’s Center.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday July 1, 2025 at 2:00pm at Ridgeview Community Church, 8420 Stine Road, Bakersfield CA, 93313.
