Marcy Jean Self

Marcy was the first child to Gary and Linda Bennett, and older sister to Steve Bennett. She was born in Montebello, California.

She obtained her Masters at Cal State Bakersfield. Marcy’s passion was her First graders! She worked at Jefferson Elementary for over 34 years.

When Marcy wasn’t in the classroom, you could find her scrapbooking, yard selling and traveling. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Marcy’s love for yard selling had her up every Saturday morning since 2000. She loved a good bargain. She loved Theaters and Plays and meeting new people on cruise ships. Marcy hardly ever met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her loving husband Paul Self, son Hunter Samuel Brown, her mother, and her four-legged friend Rocky. Brother Steve Bennett (Treece), their children Evan and Madison Bennett. And many family and friends that will greatly miss her.

She was loved by many and will be missed. Until we see you again.

A funeral service for Marcy will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, from 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
