Marie was born to Paul and Carol Peacock. She was the oldest of six children. During the early part of her life, she lived in Bakersfield and attended St. Francis School. Later, the family moved to Oakland where she attended high school.
She attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a B.A. degree in English. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority and played the clarinet in the Cal Band.
Following Cal, she attended law school at Pepperdine University in Malibu, graduating in 1979. Subsequently, she passed the California State Bar Exam in 1982.
For over twenty years Marie lived in Aptos, CA with her husband, Carl Dittrich and their daughter, Melissa, 21, a senior at UC Davis.
Marie was an excellent writer and voracious reader. She loved children and was very devoted to her family. She was considerate, kind-hearted, thoughtful and had a great sense of humor. Marie is preceded in death by her father Paul Peacock.
She is survived by her mother, husband, daughter and five siblings, Teresa, Carrie, Jill, David and Melanie. Marie will be dearly missed by friends and family.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 10am, Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield.
