Mary Louise Reyes

Mary Louise (Resendez) Reyes November 2, 1941 - October 23, 2011 Mary lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma on Sunday October 23rd, at her home in Bakersfield with her family by her side. She left us to be with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and good friend. She is preceded in death by her parents Tony and Inez Resendez, Sister Mary Louise Resendez and brother-in-law Bill Spence. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ignacio "Nacho" Reyes, Sr., sons Jaime, Rene and wife Tracy, Vincent and wife Rebekah, and Ignacio "Nacho" Jr. and fiance Melinda. Grandchildren Adriana, Anthony, Alicia, Joey, Kyle, Lyndsey, Heather, Kaitlyn, Cole, Lauren, Joseph and Joaquin. Great grand-daughters Marilyn Salcido and Brooklyn Reyes. Brothers Gerald Resendez and wife Ruby and Joaquin Resendez and wife Esther. Sisters Eleanor Lizaso and husband Jose, Mary Ellen Hernandez and husband Ismael, Juanita Spence and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School thru 8th grade and was a 1960 graduate of Garces Memorial High School. After being a stay at home mom for several years, she went to work for Hoppers. When Hoppers closed, she began an 18 year career with Coleman/ Lennar Homes. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting beautiful afghans, which we all treasure, and her once a year reunion of our Resendez family. We offer sincere thanks to Dr. D. Kanamori, Memorial Hospital ICU, 5 west nursing staff, in particular Anu, Jenny and Kristy, Mercy Memorial Hospice Diana and Maria along with the transplant staff at UCLA. Viewing will be held at Hillcrest Mortuary on Thursday from 5PM to 8PM with recitation of the holy rosary at 6PM. Mass of the Christian burial will be held at St. Josephs Church on Friday, October 28, at 1PM with Father Miguel Flores officiating and Mary's nephew's Elijah Vasquez and Pete Romero, Jr. serving the Mass. Burial will follow immediately at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
