Mildred Elizabeth Shank

Mildred Elizabeth Shank was born on April 27th, 1928 in Temple City, California. She moved to Bakersfield, California where she attended her lifelong church, Bakersfield Church of The Brethren. She met the love her life, and husband Delbert at the Church in 1950. They were months from their 66th wedding anniversary. Soon after being married, they had their three beautiful daughters Kathy, Donna, and Darlene. Mildred spent her career as an elementary school teacher. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling which included trips to their beach house in Morro Bay, playing card games and marbles, Church, and she never missed a ball game, dance recital, or graduation of all 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Everyone who knows Mildred knows her amazing faith and belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully at home with her precious family by her side. Mildred is survived by her husband, Delbert Shank, daughters Kathy and husband Rocky Bess, Donna and husband Mark McGraw, Darlene and husband Jerry Dumatrait. Grandchildren Tim Bess, Jennifer Bess, Phillip Dumatrait, Keri and husband Nick Klingerman, Kristi and husband Kenny Putnam, Katie and husband Wes Kraft, Zachary and wife Danielle McGraw, Lindsay and husband Jake Merle, Jamie and husband Joey Stephens and all eighteen great-grandchildren, Kali, Ryleigh, Blayden, Kloe, Maddox, Regan, Brexton, Kambri, Colby, Jaclynn, Karlie, Brenna, Jacob, Lia, Cooper, Justin, Charlee, and Asher. Grandma will forever be in our hearts until we meet again. " Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not"

Burial service Tuesday, December 5th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, California 93306. Following there will be a Celebration of Life at Bakersfield Church of The Brethren at 12:00 p.m. 327 A. Street, Bakersfield, California.
