Murlene Kay Holt

A Memorial Service and Remembrance will be held for Murlene Kay (Watson) Holt on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 2:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield, California. Murlene was born on March 4, 1943, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and passed away March 11, 2012, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband Dannie Holt, her parents Muriel and Evelyn Watson, and her sister Candice Stewart. She is survived by her son Dennis Coates and his wife Melissa of Little Rock, Arkansas, her daughter Dawn Helton and her fiance Craig Zari of Folsom, California, her son Michael Coates of Bakersfield, her son Anthony Holt of Apple Valley, California, her step-son Jason Holt and his wife Anna of Bakersfield, California, and her sister Linda Mitchell and sisters-in-law Irene Rowe and Mildred Holt She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; Erica, Timothy, Kimberly, Aaron, Joshua, Baylee, Seth, Jacob, Andrew, Julia, Luke, and Stella, and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Two lifelong friends, Barbara Grant and Andrea Brumfield, held special places in her heart. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1961, and later earned an Associate's Degree in Political Science from Bakersfield College. Although born in Oklahoma, Murlene lived her life in Bakersfield until 2001, when she and her husband Dannie moved to Bodfish, California. Murlene loved gardening and making her home a show place. She loved playing the penny slots and spent many enjoyable hours with friends visiting local casinos. But her greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was tremendously loved and will be greatly missed. Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary
