It is with profound sadness the family of Pamela Elaine Cheatham (Johnson) announces her passing on Friday the tenth of May. Mom was surrounded by her loving husband of 47 years, Michael Dean Cheatham and three daughters Jennifer, Tracy, and Ellie. Pamela was born in Bakersfield California on January 7, 1955 and attended West High School graduating in 1973 followed by attending San Diego State University.
After a chance meeting at a Christmas tree lot, Pam met the love of her life and devoted partner Mike. Together they built the foundation for an incredible life that included owning and running a successful business of over 40 years in the construction industry. Their family grew with the additions of three hopelessly devoted daughters and eventually eight grandchildren that became her pride and joy. She was lovingly referred to as “Mama” in the family and was the most loving and graceful matriarch that hosted epic holidays, open to the masses, cookie decorating days and never missed a sporting event of one of her tribe.
Pam’s most cherished memories were on the beaches of Avila and Carpenteria with her daughters and grandkids, or decked out in Double D leather jackets and Don Lucas Bangles attending the National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas. She never hesitated to dance and sing along to a George Straight song or risk a crisp hundred dollar bill on a wheel of fortune slot machine.
Pam lived and loved life to the fullest but above all, Pam was a devout Christian and believed she would be reunited with those gone before her as our Lord and Savior promised. Pam is proceeded in death by her parents Donald and Joanne Johnson and in-laws Charles and Lorna Cheatham. She is survived by her husband Michael Cheatham, daughters Jennifer Machado (Matt), Tracy Proffitt (Tim), Ellie Pollard (Craig) and grandchildren Bailey, Sydney, Paige, Blayke, Brayden, Carson, Tanner and Kori.
Services will be held on Friday May 24, 2024 at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 12:00pm followed by a reception located at Stockdale Country Club. We ask you to join us and please celebrate the beautiful life that touched the hearts of so many.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Cedars Sinai that supported her in her fight as well as Hoffman Hospice who guided us every step of the way and never failed to take the time to hold her hand. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Stache Strong Research in hopes to support those still battling Glioblastoma Cancer.
