Pat Suniga

July 16, 1931 - October 15, 2017

Pat Suniga passed away with her loved ones by her side on October 15, 2017. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe, her daughter, Sandra Penner and husband Leonard, her son, Michael Suniga, her granddaughters, Shelli Hutchison and husband Jason, Keri Penner, Carly Keene and husband Brandon, Kendall Suniga, and grandson, Blake Suniga. She was blessed with 6 great grandchildren, Kyle Penner, Matthew Penner, Hailey Hutchison, Jack Hutchison, Paige Hutchison, and RJ Martinez. She is also survived by her sister, Billie Jo Davis.

Pat was born in Ansley, LA on July 16, 1931, to Elmer Davis and Ruth Overstreet Davis. When she was 5 years old, the family moved to Bakersfield, CA. She had a wonderful childhood that she would recall often with fondness. She loved sharing stories about the Fox Theater, visiting Dewar's, and listening to good music at Booth's.

After graduating from Bakersfield High School, she married Joe Suniga. While raising their family, she began her career at Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator. She found great joy and made many dear friends while working there. She retired after 30 years of service as the Communications Director.

Pat loved vacationing at the beach with her family, listening to jazz and big band music, and most of all, she loved to be on the dance floor. She lived a full and active life and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society in remembrance of Pat
