She moved to Bakersfield with her family when she was a young child where she met the love of her life, William “Pete” Hamlet and they wed when she was 16 on April 1, 1951. In retirement she enjoyed riding Harleys with Pete and the children and especially loved being surrounded by family during weekly meals at her table. She and Pete were happily married for 52 years when Pete passed in 2004. Tootie remained fun and active throughout the balance of her 84 years actively engaging with the grandchildren as well as her great grandchildren. She was still driving around town and learning all this new fandangled internet and e-mail stuff when she became ill a short time ago. She loved to get the photos of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and especially enjoyed the time she spent with them. Tootie is survived by her daughters Kari Lackey and her husband Michael of Bakersfield and Denise Biter and her husband Martin of Cayucos as well as her younger brother Frank Lowder of Bakersfield in addition to numerous Grand Children, Great Grand Children, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
