Prudence Virginia Richardson

Known as Toddie by her friends and loved ones, Prudence was born on February 20, 1934 in Bixby, Oklahoma and passed away on August 21, 2023 in Lancaster, CA. Toddie was preceded in death by her husband Edgar (Ed) Richardson and her parents Roy and Lilian Mahan. She is survived by her siblings, Mary Fitzgerald, Bill Mahan, Pat Richardson, her son Stephen (wife Diane) Richardson, daughter Susan Richardson, and her grandchildren Stephen Richardson II, Heather Lawrence, and Shelby Mies. Toddie at a young age moved from the dust bowl of Oklahoma to Bakersfield, CA. It was in Bakersfield that she was introduced by her friend and soon to be brother-in-law Bill Richardson to his brother and her husband Ed Richardson. They were married in Bakersfield, CA on March 28, 1953. Toddie lived in many parts of California with her husband and children which include San Diego, Blythe, Lancaster, and Bakersfield. She spent her last years with her two children and other family members in Lancaster, CA before being called back to her Father in Heaven. Toddie was a loving wife and home maker. Her children and grandchildren were her whole heart and greatest life accomplishments. Toddie was anticipating her first great grandchild later this year and could not wait to hold her in her arms. Toddie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, painting and playing board/card games (which she was very competitive with). She found peace and joy going out on picnics or visiting the beach.

A visitation for Prudence will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
