Remerse Banks Wilson passed away on February 5, 2011 at the age of 88 of complications from pneumonia. Remerse was preceeded in death by her husband Vernon Earl Wilson, and her son, Dale Arthur Wilson. Her living children are Carl Marton Wilson and Robert Earl Wilson. Remerse is also survived by thirteen grand-children and 25 great-grandchildren.
Although she was born and raised in Utah, Remerse spent most of her life in Bakersfield, CA where she raised her family, served as a cub scout leader, and Primary President in her church. Remerse was a crafty lady who made ceramics, quilted and crocheted.
In her later years, Remerse was cared for in Simi Valley, CA by her son Carl and daughter-in-law Karen. She was also cared for in Burley, Idaho by her son Robert and daughter-in-law Diana. These years were a blessing for all members of the family who were given extra special time with her.
Remerse was born September 9, 1922 and grew up in Minersville, Utah in a family of nine children. She met her husband in Milford, Utah and they were married December 2, 1943. Remerse and Vernon were married for 55 years. The two of them enjoyed taking trips together and they loved to square dance.
Remerse’s sparkling eyes and spontaneous smile quickly made her a friend to all she met. She was silly and funny and enjoyed laughing at herself as much as anyone. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren have favorite stories about her that they love to repeat to each other and share with those not fortunate enough to have known their very beloved Grandma the White.
Services for Remerse will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary in Bakersfield, California on Saturday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m.
