Ricardo Diaz was born February 28, 1935 at the family home in Santa Cruz Durango, Mexico to Ricardo Diaz and Julia Nuñez. He was raised in San Miguel del Cantil Durango. For Ricardo there wasn't much time for dull moments. He was loyal, humble, determined and hard working. Above that he loved his family and instilled the characteristics to always be good hearted and see the good in all.
Ricardo had 12 siblings, Guillermo, Elpidia, Rodolfo, Carmen, Matilde, Luis, Maria, Socorro, Leonor, Cesaria, Enrique and Francisco. He was orphaned at the young age of 14 years old, because both parents passed away due to illness. He faced challenges and rose above managing to venture across many states in Mexico with no real plan, support or experience in search of older siblings with his two younger brother's. Upon reaching Tijuana, Mexico, he found his sister, Cesaria that helped him with raising of his other two brothers. Living there for some time he managed to learn a trade in Auto Mechanics.
He met Maria Serrano in 1958 and together a 62 year union flourished and formed a loving united Family. Ricardo and Maria were married in 1962. He fathered 7 children. Five sons, Marco Antonio, Ricardo Jr, Carlos, Ernesto and Javier and 2 daughters, Martha and Lucia.
Ricardo brought happiness and joy to all who knew him and always said there was nothing that couldn't be done if willing to put in the work. He lived life on his own terms, worked hard and enjoyed it just the same. He loved and lived for his family. He had a passion for horses and animals in general, enjoyed gardening and could fix just about anything with an engine. He may have faced challenges, but without formal education or training he still succeeded to provide for his family. He always gave effortlessly to friends or anyone in need. He will be treasured and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
Ricardo lived a long beautiful life, and at the age 83 he passed away September 7, 2018 at Hoffman Hospice in Bakersfield, CA. He is survived by his wife, Maria; seven children; 22 grand children, 31 great grandchildren; sister, Cesaria and Socorro; son-in-laws, Juan and Steven and daughter-in-law, Leonor.
