Richard Louis Warneke, a loving husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, and nephew, was born on June 15, 1939, in Vian, Oklahoma, to Louis Warneke and Ona Marie Essary. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 24, 2025.
On May 15, 1964, Richard married the love of his life, Charlotte Joyce Davisson. He graduated from Shafter High School, where he excelled in sports, especially baseball and football, proudly wearing number 75. Richard was offered a football scholarship to Pasadena City College but chose instead to begin building a family and future.
Richard started his career at Safeway as a courtesy clerk and, through dedication and hard work, became a Produce Manager—where he also met Charlotte. Together, they raised their children, Gina, John, and Cheryl, creating lasting family memories. Summers were filled with vacations across the country and camping and water skiing trips to Shaver Lake.
After 40 years of service, Richard retired from Safeway and, alongside Charlotte, spent the next 15 years traveling and enjoying life together until her passing on October 21, 2010.
Richard is survived by his children: Gina and her husband Todd, John and his husband Anthony, and Cheryl and her husband Rod. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
