Richard enjoyed mathematics and problem solving. He built heavy equipment, such as trucks and tractors when he was younger. As he grew older, he became a general engineer and general contractor and had a keen eye for drawing plans and surveying land. He was an artist, and could build structures, both large and small, with his bare hands. He was a hardworking man, and never missed a day of work, except when he took a vacation with his family and when he spent time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished.
Richard loved his family. He enjoyed boating and water skiing, he had a pilot's license and enjoyed flying from state to state, traveling, and working on trucks and old cars. Richard never met a stranger.
