Rick was born on February 23, 1954, in Bakersfield, California, to Betty Lou and Howard “Hap” Lamond. He attended local schools and graduated from West High in 1972. After high school, Rick attended Bakersfield College where he earned multiple degrees. His love for learning led him to return to school in the 1990s, where he earned yet another degree.
Rick’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his son, Sean (Linsey) Sinclair; his sister, Kim (Russ) Berrigan; his niece, Shauna Berrigan (Brian Rich); his nephew, Ruston (Natalie) Berrigan; his great-nephews, Aeden Kampa and Hendrix Salazar-Berrigan; and his cherished granddaughters, Zoe and Mia Sinclair; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends. He is also survived by Sylvia Alejandro, Sean’s mother and a lifelong friend, with whom he shared many years of history and friendship
If you knew Rick, you knew his love for family, great music, history, delicious food, and, most of all his pets. He was a devoted fan of The Beatles and The Moody Blues, had a passion for horse racing, and was a true Raider fan. Rick was a huge supporter of St Jude and Bakersfield Fire Dept. Fundraisers.
Rick’s kindness, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, followed by a celebration of Rick’s life.
