Rickey Lynn Damron, born February 16, 1952, in Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on February 17, 2025, in Bakersfield, California at the age of 73. A dedicated electrician for 40 years, Rickey found his true spark in life in Bakersfield with the love of his life, Stacy Elaine (Bigger) Damron.
Rickey was born in Alabama in 1952 and later moved to McFarland California, with his mom and brother when he was 17. This shift happened as his family sought better opportunities in California.
Rickey was a jack of all trades; he started working in the fields in McFarland at age 17 then later served in law enforcement. His true passion was being an electrician where he managed large construction projects and was able to teach others the trade. He was a problem-solver and always found a way to overcome challenges.
Over his 40 years in the electrical trade Rickey traveled to many places such as North Africa, Quebec, Libya and all over the US. He spent years working for Craddock Engineering, Arco Four Corners Pipeline, and IBEW local 428 electrical union. He finally retired from his long-life career as an electrician with the Department of Water Resources.
Rickey loved spending time with his wife going to the beach, cruising around in their corvette with their friends in the Bakersfield Corvette Club. He also loved spending time with his family camping, and of course fishing. Rickey was always there when one of the family members was remodeling their houses or fixing their cars. He loved teaching others and sharing his knowledge.
In his spare time, Rickey loved going to casinos to gamble. He loved building wood projects for his family and friends, and he was known for his various jokes. Rickey loved to dance, if there was a dance floor nearby, he wouldn’t hesitate to grab someone and start cutting a rug. He wasn’t a stranger to anyone, whether you knew him for five minutes or five years you felt like you knew him for a lifetime.
Rickey turned 73 years old on February 16, 2025, and then passed peacefully with his family by his side the next day. He was a hardworking, strong man and never gave up, he fought until the end. Rickey will always hold a special place in our hearts, we are all grateful he is no longer suffering and in pain.
