Rupert Torres Penaloza

Born as the youngest of twelve children, Rupert grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. His early years were filled with challenges that shaped the strength and perseverance he carried throughout his life. After losing his father at a young age and experiencing difficult seasons in his childhood, Rupert learned the value of resilience, hard work, and caring for others. Those experiences did not break him—they revealed the strength of his character and the depth of his heart.

Rupert overcame many obstacles throughout his life. After coming to the United States, he worked hard to build a life for his family and completed the journey of becoming a U.S. citizen. When his beloved companion and the mother of his children, Orfelina, suffered a stroke when their daughter Ana was only four years old, Rupert stepped into the role of caregiver while continuing to raise his children, run his business, and provide for his family. Through every challenge, he remained committed to the people he loved. His hard work, sacrifice, and determination allowed him to build a stable home for his family, and creating a legacy built on perseverance, love, and devotion.

Despite the hardships he faced, Rupert’s greatest accomplishment was the love he poured into his family. He was a father who showed up, provided, protected, and loved deeply. He taught his children the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and kindness through the way he lived his own life. His children will remember not only the sacrifices he made, but also the laughter, guidance, and love he gave so freely.

Rupert was a loving father, proud grandfather, beloved companion, and loyal friend. A hardworking man with an incredible work ethic, he owned and operated his own moving and hauling business, serving others with honesty, strength, and dedication. He took great pride in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Rupert found joy in working with his hands. Whether he was fixing cars, tending to his garden, tackling DIY home projects, or taking peaceful walks through the park, he approached life with curiosity and determination. He had a special love for animals and found some of his happiest moments outdoors with those he loved.

Above all, Rupert cherished his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than taking his beloved grandchildren to the park, watching them laugh and play, and creating memories they will carry with them forever. He had a contagious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and a generous heart that made everyone around him feel welcome. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love will never be forgotten.

Rupert was preceded in death by his siblings, Silvano Penaloza and Jesus Penaloza.

He is lovingly survived by his beloved love of his life, Orfelina; his son, Emilio; his daughter, Ana; his son-in-law, Carlos; his treasured grandchildren, Genesis, Azariah, Emma, Ezdras, and Theodore or as Rupert called him “Little Rupert” and a grandchild expected in November, whom he was already excited to welcome into the world. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Sofia, Jorge, Etelberto, Luis, Alejandro, Andres, Mario, Jovita, and Cecilia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

As we remember Rupert’s life, we are reminded of the words of Scripture:

“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.”

Colossians 3:12

“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

Psalm 56:8

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the love he shared, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. His legacy lives on through his family, the values he instilled, and the kindness he showed to others.

Rupert T. Penaloza will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

Con profunda tristeza y con un inmenso amor, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Rupert T. Penaloza, quien partió a la presencia del Señor el 11 de julio de 2026, a la edad de 62 años.

Siendo el menor de doce hermanos, Rupert creció rodeado de una familia numerosa y unida. Desde muy pequeño enfrentó grandes desafíos que forjaron la fortaleza y la perseverancia que lo caracterizaron durante toda su vida. Tras perder a su padre a una edad muy temprana y atravesar momentos difíciles en su niñez, aprendió el valor del trabajo duro, la resiliencia y el amor por los demás. Esas experiencias no lo derrotaron; por el contrario, moldearon el hombre fuerte, generoso y compasivo que llegó a ser.

Rupert superó innumerables obstáculos a lo largo de su vida. Al llegar a los Estados Unidos, trabajó incansablemente para construir un mejor futuro para su familia y logró convertirse en ciudadano estadounidense. Cuando Orfelina, su amada compañera de vida y madre de sus hijos, sufrió un derrame cerebral cuando su hija Ana tenía apenas cuatro años, Rupert asumió con amor el papel de cuidador, mientras continuaba criando a sus hijos, administrando su propio negocio y sosteniendo a su familia. Nunca dejó que las dificultades lo vencieran. Gracias a su esfuerzo, sacrificio y determinación, logró sacar adelante a los suyos, pagar por completo las dos casas de la familia y dejar un legado de perseverancia, amor y entrega.

A pesar de todas las pruebas que enfrentó, el mayor logro de Rupert fue el amor que sembró en su familia. Fue un padre presente, protector, trabajador y profundamente amoroso. Enseñó a sus hijos el valor de la perseverancia, la responsabilidad y la bondad, no solo con palabras, sino con el ejemplo de su propia vida. Sus hijos siempre recordarán no solo los sacrificios que hizo por ellos, sino también las risas, los consejos y el amor incondicional que les brindó.

Rupert fue un padre amoroso, un abuelo orgulloso, un querido compañero de vida y un amigo leal. Con una ética de trabajo admirable, fue dueño de su propio negocio de mudanzas y transporte, sirviendo a los demás con honestidad, esfuerzo y dedicación. Se sentía orgulloso de poder proveer para su familia y siempre estaba dispuesto a tender la mano a quien lo necesitara.

Disfrutaba trabajar con sus manos. Le apasionaba reparar automóviles, cuidar su jardín, realizar proyectos de mejoras para el hogar y dar tranquilos paseos por el parque. Amaba a los animales y algunos de sus momentos más felices los vivió al aire libre, rodeado de las personas que más amaba.

Por encima de todo, Rupert amaba profundamente a su familia. Nada le daba más alegría que llevar a sus queridos nietos al parque, verlos correr, jugar y reír, creando recuerdos que permanecerán para siempre en sus corazones. Tenía una risa contagiosa, un gran sentido del humor y un corazón generoso que hacía sentir bienvenidos a todos los que lo conocían. Su bondad, fortaleza y amor inquebrantable jamás serán olvidados.

Rupert fue precedido en la muerte por sus hermanos, Silvano Penaloza y Jesús Penaloza.

Le sobreviven su amada compañera de vida, Orfelina; su hijo, Emilio; su hija, Ana; su yerno, Carlos; sus adorados nietos, Genesis, Azariah, Emma, Ezdras y Theodore; además de un nieto que llegará al mundo en noviembre, a quien Rupert ya esperaba con gran ilusión. También le sobreviven sus queridos hermanos Sofía, Jorge, Etelberto, Luis, Alejandro, Andrés, Mario, Jovita y Cecilia, así como numerosos sobrinos, familiares y amigos que siempre llevarán su recuerdo en el corazón.

Al recordar la vida de Rupert, encontramos consuelo en las palabras de la Sagrada Escritura:

«Revístanse, pues, como escogidos de Dios, santos y amados, de tierna compasión, bondad, humildad, mansedumbre y paciencia.»

Aunque nuestros corazones están llenos de dolor por su partida, encontramos consuelo en el amor que compartió, en los recuerdos que nos dejó y en las vidas que transformó con su ejemplo. Su legado permanecerá vivo en su familia, en los valores que sembró y en cada acto de bondad inspirado por su vida.

Rupert T. Penaloza será profundamente extrañado, inmensamente amado y por siempre recordado.

A Prayer of Comfort

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with hearts that are heavy with sorrow, yet grateful for the gift of the life we were blessed to share with our beloved father. Thank You for every memory, every lesson, every sacrifice, and every expression of love that will remain with us always.

In this time of grief, remind us that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You never leave those who call upon You. Surround our family and friends with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen us for the days ahead, comfort us when the pain feels overwhelming, and fill our hearts with the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Though we mourn today, we trust in Your promises. Help us to cherish the love we shared, to extend grace to one another, and to find comfort in knowing that one day You will wipe away every tear and make all things new.

May Your presence be our refuge, Your Word our strength, and Your love our peace.

In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray.

A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, US, on July 29, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

A Committal Service will take place at Green Lawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd, Bakersfield, CA 93305, US, on July 29, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
