Ruth was born February 17th, 1940 in Valley City, North Dakota. She moved over 20 times during her childhood as her father was a furniture salesman and mortician. She worked for the telephone company into her 20s. After getting married, she lived out her calling as a full-time homemaker with her husband and three kids in Lancaster, CA. She enjoyed spending time with them outdoors. She was a faithful student of the Scriptures, devoted to her church and to serving others who were in need. She developed dementia in her later years and moved to Bakersfield to be cared for by her daughter and son-in-law until the Lord took her home.
A beloved mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, Aaron (Mickie), and granddaughter, Sarah Estelle, of Poway, CA; daughter, Sharon (Michael) Mack of Bakersfield, CA; son, John of El Cajon, CA; brother, Roger (Georgia) Bergfalk of Ramsey, MN; brother in-law, Rowland Rice of Santa Ana, CA; and other extended family. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Orval “Bud”; her parents, Reuben and Effie Bergfalk; and beloved sister, Karen Rice.
Visitation will be held Saturday October 22nd, 9:00am-10:00am with the funeral service to follow, 10:00am-11:30am, both at Bethel Baptist Church, 3100 W Ave. K, Lancaster, CA, officiated by Brian Murphy.
