Sandra Jean Valek

August 11, 1944 – August 25, 2026
Obituary of Sandra Jean Valek
IN THE CARE OF

Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest & Hillcrest Memorial Park

Sandra Valek, known as Sandy, to her family and friends was born in Roswell, New Mexico on August 11, 1944 to Sylvia and John Sullivan.

She was the eldest of seven children and a Bakersfield High graduate, whose life was a true reflection of her kindness, love and remarkable artistic talent.

She peacefully left this world surrounded by the comfort of those who loved her to be reunited with Bud, her loving husband of 60 years, whom she deeply missed since his recent passing. We take comfort in knowing that they are together once again.

As a devoted wife, Sandy honored her husband with unwavering love and put her complete trust in him to manage their life together, always confident that she would be loved, protected, and well cared for. They were inseparable.

Sandy was also a good mother and friend who poured her heart into everyone around her, often serving as the neighborhood babysitter and operating Sandy’s Daycare for a time. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Sandy" to many of those children, as she is still fondly thought of today. Her compassion also extended to the countless animals that she cared for throughout her years, ensuring that they all felt loved.

As a gifted crafter and creator known for her beautiful artwork in stitchery, quilting, and pattern making, Sandy could easily transform fabric into beautiful, warm keepsakes for her loved ones.

Those that knew and loved her will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; son, Michael; her parents, and sister, Linda.

Sandy leaves behind her daughter, Amy; her grandchildren; her siblings, Kathryn and Jack; and an extended circle of family and lifelong friends.
