Our family (Joe & Ida Murillo), have known Simon and Rachel for many years. When I was younger and before I got married to Joe Vega, I worked for Simon at Kirby's Shoe Store in Benton Park. Simon used to sell shoes for my Dad at the Kirby's on 19th Street. Selling shoes wasn't my dream job, but Simon was very kind and did tell my Dad, I was way too shy and quiet to sell shoes, which was true. Later down the road, when Simon left the shoe business and became a Jeweler, my husband, Joe, would always buy jewelry for me from Simon. He was our "go-to" guy for jewelry. We will miss him dearly. Our condolences to Rachel and the whole family.

My favorite memory of PaPa Simon was at Easter watching him ,at a family BBQ, in the park playing in a water balloon fight with his grandchildren. One of the grandchildren wet him from the waist down and I have a photo of him laughing with them that I cherish till this day.
Rest in peace with God Papa Simon you will be missed and remembered.

My favorite memory was seeing my Tio in action as a Jeweler. As a young girl, I thought it was fascinating. He gave me a few pieces of jewelry that I cherished.
You are now home in the presence of God and among the cloud of witnesses. What a glorious day...
I sent my deepest heartfelt condolences.
