Stephanie Ruechel Sweet

With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my beautiful wife, Stephanie Ruechel Sweet. She passed away at the age of 56, on October 23, 2024. Stephanie was a cherished wife, devoted mother, loving grandmother, and loyal friend.

Born in Bakersfield, California to Steven A. and Sandra C. Chavaria. Stephanie graduated from East High School and enjoyed working for the Bakersfield City School District as an aide and Librarian.

Stephanie had her son Alec early in life; a true blessing and the greatest gift she ever received. She met me, her husband Ross, and we had an amazing 33 years together, 27 of those years as husband and wife. Those years were marked by love, laughter, and a shared commitment to family.

She is known for her thoughtful and caring nature, which is her legacy to her family and all that knew her. She spent much of her time unselfishly taking care of the family and friends that meant the world to her. Do not let her kind, caring nature fool you. Beneath her gentle demeanor she was a fierce ally when it was warranted. Her laugh was magic. Her smile would light up the room. She was a very special woman. She was the love of my life, the reason for all I do, my compass throughout life. I miss her every minute of every day. I will always be her husband.

Stephanie is survived by her devoted husband Ross, loving son Alec, daughter-in- law Sheena, grandsons Grayson and Kaleb, and granddaughter Rylee, who brought her endless joy and pride. Her father Steven and brother Steven. Preceded in death by her grandfather Nickolus, grandmother Monica and mother Sandra.

Service for Stephanie will be held on November 20, 2024, at 10:00am at Our Lady of perpetual Help, 124 Columbus St, Bakersfield, CA 93305. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Enable Program at the Boys and Girls Club in her honor. https://www.bgckc.org/donate
