OBITUARY

Terry Michael Boylan

November 16, 1948 – December 6, 2020
Obituary of Terry Michael Boylan
IN THE CARE OF

Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest & Hillcrest Memorial Park

Terry Michael Boylan died peacefully in Bakersfield on December 6, 2020 at the age of 72. Terry was the second of three children born to Walter and June Boylan in Bakersfield. He attended Garces Memorial High School and grew up with his brother Ronnie and sister Teena in east Bakersfield.

Not long after high school, Terry began working with Ronnie and sister-in-law Donice at B&B Surplus. He was instrumental in the growth of the business, as a partner working sales and purchasing, and establishing rewarding lifelong friendships along the way. With a strong work ethic, Terry remained at the metals company for more than 40 years.

Terry married the love of his life, Christine Sabovich. Though they had no children, they loved their great nieces and nephews as if they were their own. He adored his late dog Toby, and Dolly was his constant companion for the last 18 years. Terry and Christy were fortunate to have traveled the world together. They visited many exotic locations with plenty of stories to tell. He loved playing craps in Las Vegas, betting on the horses in Del Mar, and spending time at their home away from home in Oxnard and cruising aboard "Christy's Revenge".

Terry was always the life of the party. He and his wife had an open-door policy. They enjoyed hosting friends for Christy's delicious homemade meals. His life centered around time with family, whether it be spending Christmases with the Boylans in San Francisco, or converting his garage to accommodate upwards of 40 relatives and holiday orphans with no place to go for Thanksgiving. Terry was a devout Catholic who, in the last years of his life prayed the rosary daily. He loved deeply, was kind-hearted, and generous with his time and resources.

Our heartfelt appreciation to his caregivers and friends Clemencia, Maddie, Jimmy, and Lorena. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, sister, and cousin Greg Boylan.

Those left to remember his gentle soul are Bryan Boylan and family, Michelle Pisano and her children Hayden and Riley, Donice Boylan, Bret Boylan, Doreen Boylan Abrams, the Sabovich family, many cousins, nieces and nephews and dear friends Chris and Cathy Carlson, Ben Carlson, Chod Sill, Ryan Jeffries, Lynn Kirkorian and Danny Hagenbuck.

In lieu of flowers, Terry's memory may be honored by a contribution to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1515 Baker St, Bakersfield, CA, 93305, or St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Center, 300 Baker Street, Bakersfield, CA, 93305.

In tribute to Terry, spend time with your families, tell a story or two, and toast him with a good drink. He was fond of saying "I'll see you in the fall, if I see you at all." We look forward to seeing him again, and our lives are richer for having had him in ours.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hillcrestmemorial.com for the Boylan family.
