Theresa Ann Hughlett, age 45, passed away peacefully from cancer at her home on May 11, 2018. She grew up in Bakersfield, California and attended Norris Middle School, North High School, Bakersfield College and CSUB graduating with her Bachelors Degree. She was a talented teacher and taught for 17 years at McAuliffe and Berkshire Elementary. She loved all the students she had ever taught. She worked with a great group of teachers and staff that she loved very much and instinctually became like family.

Theresa was a strong Christian woman who had a passion for living life to the fullest. She was born a selfless, loving daughter and gave of herself to be sure her mother's and father's knew how much she loved them.

She married Dennis Hughlett at a young age and was married to him for 27 years. She was a devoted wife and cherished her union with Dennis. Together they had a beautiful son; at 37 year's old, and he completed their family. Jacob was blessed to have an amazing God-fearing mother to love him, shape him and teach him to be the sweet and respectful Christian young man that he is today.

Theresa was surrounded by brothers and sisters who adored her. Her kind nature and giving heart spoke volumes. Theresa was more than just a sibling, she was a best friend, a confidant, a shoulder to lean on and a prayer warrior.

Her friends were numerous. Everyone she met she developed a connection with. She always spoke from the heart and gave from the heart. She made us all want to be better people.

Earth may cry because we lost a loved one here, but ALL of Heaven rejoices when one of it's own returns home.

Theresa, we will always love you; today, tomorrow and yesterday. But we know that we will see you again. In God's timing, we will be reunited Forever!

My favorite childhood memory is when we lived in Illinois. Theresa and I would dig our hands into the snow without our gloves on and then run inside and put our hands up our Mom's shirt. My other favorite childhood memory was when we lived on Cedar Crest and we would make up dances in the summer time and then do a show for everybody. My favorite adult memory is of us laughing. We sure did laugh a lot. The gut kind of laughing till tears rolled down our cheeks. Gonna miss you dear sister!<3

My best memories of my sister is during the holiday's. She always made homemade cookies and brownies. She would make gift plates full of home baked goodies. She was a really good baker. I just think she was just a really nice person and she was great sister to me. That I could look up to her and use her as an example to live a good life. I love you Theresa.

Since I hardly see everyone in my family, I would have to say that every time I see my sister's and brother's, every memory is a favorite. I can't pick one, all memories are the best.

I had the honor and privilege to be Theresa's massage therapist. I loved seeing her on my schedule. She was a lovely, beautiful person. We shared stories of our lives with each other. She especially shared with me the love for her son, Jacob.
"Jacob, I hope you'll always remember how very much your mom loved you!"
I am missing Theresa so much. I'll always cherish the few years that I was blessed to know her.
