In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Chapin, and his brother, Earl Chapin.
He is survived by sons Bill Blomdal of Browns Valley; Randy Chapin of Grand Junction, CO; Robert Mehciz of Keller, TX; Joseph Mehciz of Porterville; and Bradley Chapin of Grand Junction, CO; daughters Cindy Chapin of Montrose, CO; Deborah Elliott of Knoxville, TN; and Valerie Chapin of Grand Junction, CO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his partner of the last several years, Sherry Williams, who also served as his caregiver along with her daughters, Melissa Williams and Savannah Munoz.
A graveside service for Vernon Loyd Chapin will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary with Dr. Marvin Elliott officiating.
