Virginia Velma McCombs

Velma Virginia Real was born December 23, 1930 to Allen & Ida Real in East Oklahoma, the youngest child in a large farming family. Velma quickly expressed that she preferred to be called by her middle name “Virginia” and she later officially had the two names switched in adulthood. After finishing high school wherein she played on the girl's basketball team, she married Audie J. McCombs. Following his work, they moved to Dallas and within a year, they had a son, Dennis Bruce. Soon after in 1950, they moved to California's southern central valley where they had a daughter, Glenna Sue. Here they raised their children and diligently attended Westside Church of Christ. Virginia was an entrepreneur, behind the business “Virginia McCombs Real Estate” as both a Realtor and a broker. Virginia found the most joy in reading her Bible, fashion, politics, dancing with friends and cooking full meals for her family including lavish desserts. She lived ninety beautiful years.

Virginia Velma McCombs is now reunited in heaven with her parents, siblings, husband, close friends and beloved son. She is missed here on Earth by her daughter Glenna McCombs, her grandchildren Joshua McCombs, Rachael McCombs, Ginny Ray Hanson, and Autumn McCombs as well as her great-grandchildren Madison McCombs, Liam McCombs and Ayla McCombs, in addition to her Westside Church of Christ family and extended family in Oklahoma. She will be remembered daily for her empathy, discipline, integrity, faith, generosity, wisdom, sweet smile & loving spirit.

Funeral services will be July 12, 2021 at 11am at Westside Church of Christ located at 7300 Stockdale Hwy in Bakersfield, Ca.
