He and his Wife Betty were married for 64 years and have a son, Mark and wife Brenda and a daughter,
Carol and husband David, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Walter graduated from KCUHS then served in the US Navy for 2 years during World War 2. Walter was stationed in Guam, Pearl Harbor, worked on the U.S.S. Rendova and U.S.S. Biloxi where he was 55 miles south of Tinain Island when the B-29 Enola Gay took off and dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima.
Walter obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Art and Education from the California College of Arts and Crafts
in Oakland, California, after which he worked as a teacher for one year. After he decided teaching wasn't his life's work, He went to work for Standard Oil Fields in Kings County. In 1961 he began his 30
year career with Kern county started him off as a temporary help janitor (with a college education)
in the General Services Department where he worked his way up to Property Coordinator the whole
County. He later went to work for the Public Works office and retired as an Architectural Engineer
and Drafting Technologist. Walter Loved to travel in his retirement.
Always interested in History, Walter became a charter member of the Ancient Order of E Clampus
Vitus Peter Lebec Chapter 1866 in the 1962. In the 1990s he became Certified Graphoanalyst, which allowed him to analyze handwriting. He was also an active member of the VFW Chapter 10859. Walter was an accomplished artist and writer.
Walter left us February 14th, 2019 in Bakersfield with his wife by his side. His funeral will be Monday February 25, 2019 at Hillcrest Cemetery. I lieu of flowers donations to Honor Flight Kern County may
be made.
